Reiki Session with Ksenia

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

Reiki is a very specific form of energy healing, in which hands are placed just off the body or lightly touching the body, as in “laying on of hands.” According to many versions of its origin, Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese seeker of spiritual truths, brought the Reiki method of healing into human awareness in 1922 after a deep spiritual experience. He is said to have begun teaching others after a serious earthquake hit Japan and he felt urged to spread his knowledge.

In a Reiki session, the practitioner is seeking to transmit Universal Life Energy to the client. The intention is to create deep relaxation, balance the chakras, to help speed healing process, reduce pain and stress, and decrease other negative symptoms a person receiving may be experiencing.

Reiki is a form of complementary health care practice, which enhances the body's ability to heal itself.

What to expect in a Reiki Session?

Upon arrival, I will greet you outside the door and walk you to the the studio space. You will fill out an intake form, then I will ask you a few questions related to your intention for the session and give you a rundown of what to expect during it. Treatment room will be already prepared for you: there will be a Reiki bed with freshly washed sheets, a blanket, an eye mask, some crystals and music playing from a speaker. You will be expected to be on the Reiki bed for an hour so please wear something comfortable. Reiki sessions performed with a client being fully clothed. Everything including the treatment bed, a pillow and a bolster is adjustable so just get comfortable, relax and breathe.

Most of the time, an energy session is described as a sensory experience. You might start seeing colors, experience twitching, tingling sensations, sensation of floating, find your body warming or cooling or feel waves of energy/electricity running through the body. You might find yourself in a deep meditative state, fall asleep or process emotions during the session. Please know, that all of the above is normal and generally, Reiki treatment is a very relaxing, peaceful, restorative experience.

I use hand-off and hand-on Reiki hand positions during the treatments so If you do not want to be touched, please let me know.
If you are sensitive to essential oils or smells like sage, palo santo, lavender, eucalyptus, etc or have allergies to essential oils, please let me before the session.

Sound-healing and vibrational therapy tools like tuning forks, singing bowls, chimes, music instruments as well as breath-work and meditation techniques are used as a part of the treatment. If you prefer any of the above not to be used, please let me know.

Prior to the session you will be provided with a California Client Information Form, Acknowledgment, & Consent to Receive Treatment that you will be signing online. Please dress comfortably. Please do not consume alcohol the day before or the day of the session. Thank you.
